Heating mantles are preferred to Bunsen burners or hot plates for organic liquids. They provide even heating (no hot spots) and maximum surface coverage for better temperature uniformity.
Glas-Col offers its standard Series O mantles for round-bottom flasks with the PowrTrol power control as a special, economical package. The PowrTrol is one of the newest power controls from Glas-Col and is ideally suited for accurate control of mantles, tapes, cords, and other resistive loads. The unit is a solid-state, proportional-voltage control that provides precise manual control of the output range, which is adjustable from 3-100%.
The heating mantles in this package represent one of the most popular items in the Glas-Col family of laboratory products. The standard Series O mantles are for round-bottom flasks from 50 ml to 5,000 ml in both 120V and 240V where available. Series O mantles are made of flexible fabric and represent one of the most economical ways to safely heat chemicals in the lab. The fabric interior cushions the glassware to reduce the chance of breakage. Use with Series O support is highly recommended.
